Announcement! The Seeker's Guide to Twisted Taverns Collaboration
9 months ago – Sat, Mar 06, 2021 at 01:00:05 PM

Hello everyone!

Surprise!!! It's time to announce a collaboration that has been in the works for a long while! Hexbound is collaborating with The Seeker's Guide to Twisted Taverns, published by Eldermancy and whose lead designer is none other than Logan Reese, aka the Runesmith!

You can check out their project to know what we're talking about Here!

A Witch Barbarian written by the Runesmith for Hexbound!

That's right! Logan Reese wrote an additional barbarian witch subclass that brings the magic of witches to the melee class. I don't want to give everything away right now, but Logan's barbarian is EXTREMELY customizable, allowing you to build your unique witch barbarian, with the capacity to summon spirits in battle, cast spells while raging, and much more!

We'll be releasing this subclass shortly, but for now, here's the art I made for it!

the Runesmith's witch barbarian is coming to Hexbound!

Witches in Twisted Taverns!

I (Antonio!) have designed three NPC witches that will be present in the Seeker's Guide to Twisted Taverns, these are three witches that carry very special magic items! These magic items are unique to Twisted Taverns, and won't appear anywhere else!

These three NPCs are three sisters. Arabela, the oldest sister, is the poisoner, and she sells all sorts of harmful concoctions, including her own special brew. Brunela, the middle sister, is the scribe, and she sells spell scrolls that contain damaging and noxious magics, one of which is a spell of her own creation. Candela, the youngest sister, is the antiquer, and she sells magic items that all come with a twist!

These NPCs were made to visit the taverns of your campaign, and offer GMs not just magic items to give to their players, but also a mystery to resolve...  after all, you did not think there was nothing more than meets the surface with these three witches, right?

So if all of this sounds good, please go ahead and check out The Seeker's Guide to Twisted Taverns and consider pledging to their campaign if you want to see the other half of this collaboration as well as get some really cool taverns to add to your campaigns!

Stretch Goal Reached: One Shot Adventure!
9 months ago – Wed, Mar 03, 2021 at 08:16:47 AM

Hello everyone!

Once again, I'm writing you a day later to tell you we've reached yet another stretch goal! As hard as it is to believe, we've reached our $100, 000 stretch goal barely after starting our third day! Let's get into what this one-shot adventure is all about.

One-Shot Adventure!

This one-shot adventure has been designed specifically to offer players the opportunity to pick one of the witch subclasses offered in Hexbound. It takes place in an important coven where witch-hopefuls go to learn the art of witchcraft. Players will go through a trial to prove themselves as worthy of receiving their witchmark and become full-fledged witches. But do not worry! The adventure can also be run without taking a witch subclass at all! There will be many options for the adventure to work and be worthwhile for your players without having them take a witch subclass.

The coven in which the adventure takes place is very "dark academia", with marble floors, dusty tomes, white columns, and creaky bookshelves. When the players take part in the trial, they will be transported to a demi-plane where the trial will take place. The trial itself has some ancient greek references to it that tie very well with the lore on witches offered in Hexbound.

I'm giving more details on adventures over on Twitter! I already talked about one of them in detail, and I plan to talk more about the others! If this sounds interesting, you can check the thread HERE.

 Current Stretch Goal!

So what is the next stretch goal? Well, we can't very well be published by Hit Point Press, makers of The Deck of Many Animated Spells (among many other things), without having Hexbound's own animated spell cards!

That's right, if we hit the next stretch goal, Hexbound will have its own deck of animated spell cards for Hexbound's unique spells! These will be 10 cards, one per each spell in Hexbound. They'll have all pertinent information for you to quickly reference everything about the spell in question, and of course, all illustrations will be animated! A fun continuation of the Arcane Eye's AR animation, but no need to use your phone camera for these!

We might, however, see other fun additions before reaching this stretch goal... keep an eye out for more!

Today we'd like to bring to your attention to another project on Kickstarter! It's called Crescent Moon, by Ema Acosta, and it's a role-playing game about brave children delving into a strange dreamscape known as the daydream!

The art of Crescent Moon is absolutely delightful, and really sells its dream-like vibe!

They have already attained their funding goal, but there's still time to pledge and try out a new game that I believe is quite different from anything else you've played, as it focuses on kid player characters and how their personalities develop over time.

If all of this sounds interesting, head on to their Kickstarter page!

Unlocked! Hexbound Kickstarter Exclusive Pins!
9 months ago – Tue, Mar 02, 2021 at 11:55:57 AM

Hello Everyone!

We passed our halfway point in our campaign, which means it's high time for me to unlock some goodies that will be added to your pledges! Let's get into it!

Hexbound Pins have been added to pledge tiers!

That's right, the 50$ Hexbound: Complete Edition and the 100$ Hexbound: Collector's Edition now have added pins at no additional cost!

Everyone that pledges at those tier levels at the end of the campaign will receive either one or two pins depending on the pledge tier selected. These pins are Kickstarter exclusive and won't be produced after the campaign, so don't miss out!

The pin included in the 50$ Hexbound Complete Edition is the gorgeous enamel Hat Pin, obviously featuring the iconic witch hat as well as the constellation motif seen all throughout Hexbound. This pin is 1 inch (2.5 cm) high, and it closes with a double jewellers clutch.

The Hexbound Collector's Edition includes 2 pins! It includes the previous Hat Pin, but ALSO the Sword Pin! It features a sword going through a scroll overseen by an eye filled with constellations. The enamel Sword Pin is 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) high, and it closes with a double jewellers clutch!

The pins are also available as add-ons! Add $10 for the Hat Pin and $12 for the Sword Pin to your pledge.

An Important Reminder! Just so it's clear to everyone: these 2 pins are Kickstarter exclusives. They are included in the tiers detailed above and available as add-ons, however, they won't be sold anywhere after the campaign ends.

A SECOND Important Reminder! We are still working on these pins with the manufacturer. This means that small changes may happen to details of the design of the pin as it goes into production. This won't change the general design of the pin, but slight changes to, for example, the shape of the smoke, may happen! More news on this to come.

Making enamel pins has been on my list since forever, and it makes me so happy to add this to those two pledge tiers at no cost. I really hope you like them!

Arcane Eye App Stretch Goal Reached!
10 months ago – Thu, Feb 11, 2021 at 06:55:29 AM

Hello everyone!

I did not want to send two updates to your inboxes in the same day, but we did completely smash our two stretchgoals in the very first day, so here's the 411 on the Arcane Eye App, our latest attained stretch goal!

So what's the Arcane Eye app?

The Arcane Eye app was designed as a companion app for Hexbound, and it's the first app of its kind! It uses AR technology to track the images in the Hexbound book. What this means is that by simply looking at them through your phone's camera the images will come to life an animate in front of you!

Of course, the app is not just to make images look cool as they move. By tapping on the animated illustration on your phone, you can access all the information about a subclass, a spell, anything! Not only that, but you can also access the stat block of creatures in the book, whether that's enemies or familiars! In that stat block, you can roll for literally anything: saving throws, skill checks, attacks, you name it!

This makes running fights with several enemies a piece of cake, and dynamizes combats like never before. Instead of individually rolling for every attack of 15 minions, just tap on the attack you want a mob to do and you bam! there you have it!

Now for the really important information: how much will this be?

The Arcane Eye will retail for the low low price of free!

As to where in development is the app, I have it on my phone! The app will be available both in iOS and Android, and all the base functionalities have already been coded and are ready to go! Right now we're working on an AR-less mode so that phones that can't run AR can still use it, but depending on the success of the Kickstarter we plan on developing even more features for the app! Some ideas that are in the table are customizable 3D dice (it's 3D, so what if they were made of fire? what if they glowed with Arcane Energy? The sky is the limit!), making your own stat blocks in the app itself to roll for your characters or for homebrew enemies, and even more ideas that we're not quite ready to talk about yet!

And all of this would not have been possible without the incredible show of support that Hexbound received on its very first date. I cannot thank you enough for your support and trust in our project, and I cannot wait to show you what else we've planned

Current Stretch Goal!

Well, the next stretchgoal is an entire new adventure! This one will be a one shot, and it has been made specifically to allow PCs to choose a witch subclass! Of course, you can run it without choosing any witch class at all (but why would you? they are great!). If we reach it, I'll give more details, but for now I'll give you a hint as to the theme! Take a closer look at that stretch goal scroll; do you see something interesting that is not present in the other scrolls? Hmmm....

Projects We Love!

Today we'd like to bring to your attention to another project on Kickstarter! It's a plushie of an Owlbear cub!

Come and adopt your own very owlbear cub with the Baby Bestiary's adorable Owlbear Plush!! Not only is it a stuffed companion, perfect to join your adventuring party, but you'll also have a slew of awesome 5e owlbear content, including owlbear focused adventures and subclasses!

And since we hit stretch goals, we're creating two kinds of owlbears; a classic brown owlbear, and an arctic cub! In addition, you can also opt for the deluxe goodies, including an adorable cape, fishy companion, collectors box, and a pewter owlbear mini. Everything you need to start your owlbear adventures!
